The days when Sharm el Sheikh was a quiet fishing village are long gone. Today, those most interested in the abundance of fish are the plethora of divers and snorkellers who book flights to Sharm el Sheikh to explore its warm sea and laze on its sandy beaches. Located on the Sinai Peninsula in Egypt, the scenery surrounding Sharm el Sheikh is spectacular and unique. The red mountains on the horizon are followed by a strip of desert and finally the coastline of the resort itself.

The accommodation on offer is very varied, from luxury five star hotels to those that service the more bargainous package holidays. This is a lively resort, with plenty to do during the day and night. Restaurants and shops catering to the tourists abound, though it is harder to find an authentic African experience. However, the popularity of this holiday destination means it is relatively easy to find a cheap flight to Sharm el Sheikh at all times of year. The proximity of one of the best dive sites in the world at Ras Mohammed Marine National Park, together with plenty of coral reefs for easy snorkelling, make it popular with all levels of divers. There is also an abundance of other watersports on the clean waters.
